Q: What can I use the Truss House system for?
A: The system supports detached houses, townhouses, Granny Flats, Offices, Holiday Bachs and even multi-level designs. Flexible openings, spans, and layouts are possible.

Speed / Profitability

Q: Why not just do it the normal way?
A: Because normal builds are slow, labour-intensive, tighter trade schedules and harder to consent. Truss House cuts weeks off construction, reducing holding costs and site risk.
Q: How much faster?
A: Typical frames and trusses take weeks of site work to stitch together. A Truss House portal frame system is erected in hours. Builders report ~30–40% faster time to enclosed shell.
Q: Does faster mean more productivity?
A: Yes. Faster productivity = more savings in overall build costs

Simplicity / Compliance

Q: How does it affect consenting?
A: Consenting is actually faster than traditional builds. Each house truss system is pre-engineered and supported by a PS1. Councils accept that more of the structure is covered by the PS1, reducing their liability, which leads to a reduction in RFI’s and speed of consenting.
Q: Do I need special equipment?
A: No. Existing builders can install using standard tools. No crane required.
Q: Do builders need special training ?
A: No. Installing the Truss House system uses the same principles as installing a roof truss. No additional specialist skills required. Installation instructions are provided.
Q: Am I taking on more risk because it’s new?
A: The opposite. The Truss House system uses the existing supply chain. The “new” part is the integration, which is covered by Pryda engineering sign-off/PS1.
Q: Is the Truss House system limited to linear or barn-style geometries?
A: No. The system accommodates a full range of architectural forms, including L, T, or courtyard configurations. Optimal efficiency is achieved when modules follow a consistent grid, as highly irregular geometries can
reduce manufacturing and installation gains.

Logistics

Q: How big is the Truss House system - and how is it transported?
A: Frame / system sizes vary in width and can be adjusted to meet transport restrictions (e.g., hinged or via container). Transportation is typically organised by the fabricator as with traditional roof trusses.
Q: Can the building be assembled off site - and moved to site?
A: Yes, depending on available transport sizes.

Track Record

Q: Has it been built before?
A: Yes. Projects have been consented and delivered in Canada,
NZ and Australia.
Builder feedback is that it’s new, but not unfamiliar.
Q: What’s the feedback been from other builders and trades?

Slab vs Suspended Floor: Works on both. Tested and consented.
Subfloor: Should be enclosed.
Insulation: Walls R≈6.0 vs Code R2.0, Floors R≈6.3 vs Code R2.5 (Bunnings/ECCHO data).
Windows: Standard joinery can be used. Because the frame is accurate, windows can be ordered in advance.
Fire & Acoustic: Separations are designed into the system, with engineering guidance available.
Weight / Logistics: Designed for transport on standard trucks, portal frames sized for New Zealand road limits.
